Rose Syrup Recipe / Homemade Rose syrup Recipe

Exactly 45 days away from my Blog !!! Phew!! I cannot explain how happy I am to start writing again. There were so many incidents that happened in the past 45 days which completely refrained me from my writing 😦 My laptop screen was damaged ! That took a good 15 days for the repair as my laptop also had some other issues. And I tell you how difficult it is to open a laptop and write when two kids are literally driving your day 24*7 🙂 Their complaints, demands, fights, making the clean house a mess in no time etc etc etc… Gosh! I am super glad my toddler is starting his school and I can happily dedicate a little time to share my posts quite often 🙂 Oh yes ! with all these things in and around I thoroughly enjoyed my kid’s summer vacations spending time with both my kids and family. I did miss WordPress though 🙂

So, coming back to this recipe and cheering my return to you all, I thought of a sweet drink which looks pleasant and beautiful with lots of aroma and taste. How I miss my childhood when mom used to make rose milk and store it in the refrigerator during hot summers. This drink was one of my favourite and it still is. Making a Rose syrup in your kitchen might be a tedious task. With all the rose petals and everything. I found this recipe recently on internet and was tempted to try it soon. As it was a short cut method for a rose syrup it did not take me long to dip my feet in the water and immediately I tried the recipe and it was a success.

All you need is just 4 ingredients and you can make this yummilicious syrup which can act handy in making many desserts and drinks. Rose milk is the easiest. Apart from it you also can make rose lassi, rose falooda, rose milk popsicles, rose phirni etc…

Ingredients:

Granulated Sugar – 1 cup

Water – 1/2 cup

Edible cranberry(red-pink) food colour – 1/2 tsp

Rose essence – 1/4 tsp

Method:

  1. Take sugar in a pan and add 1/2 cup water to it.
  2. Heat it up and let the sugar boil till it reaches half its quantity
  3. When sugar syrup becomes slightly thick, add pink food colour and stir
  4. Allow the sugar syrup to thicken. Test the consistency by taking some sugar syrup in between your forefinger and thumb. Try to form a string. A small string should form and immediately break. This means that the sugar syrup is perfect
  5. Turn off the gas stove and add rose essence
  6. Mix well and let it cool completely before you transfer it into a clean glass jar.

Tips:

  1. I have seen people use lemon or citric acid to avoid sugar crystallisation. I have not added anything and that worked good for me.
  2. You can also try adding if in case your scared that the sugar might turn into crystals after it cools down.
  3. Rose water can be added if you do not have rose essence but the quantity will be more. Rose essence is completely different from rose water. If in case your using rose water, you will have to use it in step 1 itself.
