Coconut-coriander chutney

I bet you can make this in less than 5 minutes 🙂 Give it a try and you will know how easy it is and most importantly, very tasty and goes well with most of our south indian breakfasts. Like idli, dosa, pongal etc…

Very less ingredients. Put all the listed ingredients in a mixer jar and grind it to a smooth chutney. A seasoning for this is optional and i havent seasoned it because i made this chutney for my  today’s breakfast rava idli which has all the tempering ingredients in it. I did not find itnecessary though. But, if you like you can season them with mustard seeds and split urad dal.

Measuring cup used: 1cup – 250 gms

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Green chilli – 4

Tamarind paste – 1/2tsp

Coriander leaves – a small bunch (cleaned and chopped)

Salt to taste


  1. In a mixer jar, add all the ingredients with little water and grind into a fine paste.
  2. That’s it !
  3. Serve it with dosas or idlies


  • Adjust the quantity of chillies according to your taste. This chutney has to be more on the spicy side.
  • If you want the chutney to be green in colour add more of coriander leaves. Add the coriander leaves stem too. Clean it thoroughly before use.
